The claim
“Everyone in our community absolutely fed last week! A $10 unit bettor would be up over $780 in just 7 days! All this for only $30 per month. Come win with us.”
@RoyaltyWagers, 19 June 2026, 362 views1. The link and hashtags at the end of the tweet are left out.
“TommyBANKERS ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 Over the last 30 days we’ve built an incredible community in here with over 4,000 members - along with that, we finished the World Cup with 12.87 UNITS PROFIT and 6.9% ROI with every single bet tracked publicly in this channel.”
@tommypredicts, 24 July 2026, 4,533 views1. This quote is cut off at the end: our file holds only the first part of the tweet.
A tipster gives out picks: tips on what to bet. A unit is the standard bet size. ROI, or yield, is profit divided by money staked. The unit figures are the sellers’ own; we did not check their records. This page judges the scheme, not the people who tweeted.
The sums
Income from betting is yield times money staked. The most favourable large sample we found averages a 3.97% yield, across 3,484 tipsters on Blogabet, a site that records tips before the event11. We read only its summary; the figure is before subscription fees and before prices move11. At that yield, $1,000 a month needs about $25,200 staked each month (our estimate)11.
$780 at $10 a unit is 78 units in one week (our sum)1. At 3.97% that takes about $19,650 staked in the week (our estimate)11. So the bets were much larger than one unit each, or the week was unusually lucky, or the return was far above anything measured over a long record.
The second claim is modest: 12.87 units is about $129 at $10 a unit, on about 186 units staked (our estimates)1. Joseph Buchdahl, an analyst of tipsters’ records, worked out that about 540 even-money bets (a winning bet pays the same as the stake) are needed before a 10% yield can be told from chance12. About 186 units is well short of that: too short to tell skill from luck. A Telegram channel of the same name does post losing bets and comparisons with the closing price (the last price before the game starts), a better sign than a win-loss record alone6.
What happens to most people who try
We found no checked income report from an ordinary follower of picks. The nearest figures:
- Tip services. Tips.GG, a company that ranks tipsters, scored 165 football prediction services at a flat $10 stake over eight months of 2026. 38 ended in profit, so 127 did not20. These are the company’s figures, from a republished release20.
- Followers. One study of three prominent Nigerian betting influencers found a follower staking the same on every tip would lose 38.27% of the money staked19. It is not peer reviewed, and the tips were mostly long-odds bets joined together19.
The upside
Sports betting can be beaten, but by people doing something different from copying picks.
- A documented method. In 2017 three researchers bet only when one bookmaker’s odds were well above the market average. By their own figures they made $957.50 across 265 bets, about $190 a month over five months (our sum)18. Some bookmakers then cut the size of bet they would accept, and the researchers stopped18.
- The very top. A High Court claim in England alleges one betting syndicate (a staffed group that bets as a business) wins about £600 million a year59. This is the claimant’s figure, from one news report of 4 December 2025; it is untested, and we did not check what has happened since59.
A realistic good result (our estimate): following a truly skilled tipster at $10 units, 120 bets a month and a 5% yield makes about $60 a month, or about $30 after a $30 subscription, if the odds are still there when the follower bets. A full income is documented only for people who run betting as a business with capital.
What it takes to compete
- Betting on price. Documented winners bet only when the odds are better than the true chance, and check that against the closing price1718.
- Capital and long records. About $25,200 staked every month for $1,000 a month (our estimate, at a 3.97% yield)11, a pot of money that survives long losing runs, and about 540 even-money bets before a record can be judged12.
To tell early, check whether the record is registered before each event with an independent body, the UK advertising regulator’s standard50. A record in the seller’s own channel does not meet it50. Warning signs: a profit quoted for one week, a promise of certainty, or a result sold as fixed in advance.
Who else makes money from it
- The seller. The $30 is paid whether the picks win or lose1. After card fees, about 35 subscribers at $30 bring $1,000 a month (our estimate, before payout fees; we did not verify Whop’s full fees)7.
- The platform. Whop, a marketplace for paid communities, has stores named Royalty Wagers and TommyBANKERS; we matched them to the tweets by name, not by a link from the X accounts24. Whop is paid on every sale7.
- The betting company. Its odds carry a margin. At a common US price, $110 staked to win $100, a bettor must win 52.38% of bets just to break even (our sum).
